Pregnancy Update: Week 30

Roughly 10 weeks left in this pregnancy!  I’m ready for it to be over, but really my only complaints are that I’m tired more frequently and miss all the activities I used to do.  It’s a lot harder to move around with all that extra weight in your belly!  So here we are with my 30 week update – Enjoy!

How far along?  30 weeks as of Tuesday, March 28

Gender: Boy!!!

Sleep:  So-so.  I wake 2-4 times a night and not usually because I have to use the bathroom.  I’ve had many nights where I wake at 2 or 3 AM and it takes me over an hour to fall back asleep!  Definitely not ideal.  I think part of it has to do with the combination of warmer weather (our house is hotter at night) and my increase in body heat since the baby is bigger that makes me too hot to fall back asleep.

Symptoms:  Nothing except exhaustion and moodiness some days.  My back no longer itches (YAY!), which coincidentally stopped right after I went swimming in a chlorinated hotel pool…thinking the chlorine killed whatever was bothering me.  I am tired some days and definitely have days where I feel down/sad, but nothing serious.  I haven’t had any pain, aches, cramping, bleeding or anything of the sort so I’m feeling pretty lucky.

Stretch marks?  Nope!  I didn’t get any last pregnancy so am hoping I don’t with this one.

Belly button in or out?  Flat

Wedding Rings on or off?  On…never had to remove them during my first pregnancy (even though it was in the midst of summer).  I don’t tend to swell/retain a lot of water.

Baby Movement?  Yes!  Especially when I lay down; whether to nap or go to sleep.

Last Dr. Appointment:  I’ve started going to the doctor every 2 weeks, so I’ve had a few appointments since my last update.  I opted out of the typical gestational diabetes glucose test and instead did a fasting glucose test.  My results were normal, so no further testing needs to be done.  I also had my iron levels checked and they are a bit low so I am going to try my best to eat more iron rich foods.  (I’m already taking an iron supplement.)  I also had to get a RhoGAM shot because of my blood type.  I opted out of the tdap vaccine.  My belly is growing at an appropriate rate, my blood pressure is great and the baby’s heart beat is strong.

Workouts:  Same as they have been – a mix of cardio and weights 5 days a week, with rest days varying.  Cardio is mostly on the elliptical and for weights I do free weights and cable machines.  I tend to do lighter weights, higher reps and make sure not to do any exercises on my back.

Food Cravings/Dislikes:  I don’t have any intense cravings or any food aversions.  I have been really enjoying cheese (Kerrygold to be specific) with carrots.  This may sound like an odd combination, but it’s actually something I liked prior to pregnancy…just been eating a lot more of it lately.  I’ve also been eating a lot of protein banana bread, but I think that just happens to be because we’ve had a lot of ripe bananas around the house.

Things you miss?  Just being able to move more comfortably.  My belly just gets in the way!  Haha…  I also miss pushing myself in workouts, but I’ve been having pretty decent lifting sessions lately.  And I still miss my smaller frame and all the clothes in my closet that I can’t wear.

Thoughts/Feelings Lately: I’m just super ready to be done and meet our little guy!  I feel prepared and relaxed and ready.

(By the way, I apologize for the poor picture quality…I’m decent at taking food photos but pictures of myself are a whole other story :P)
